When not working on my Jon Snow impersonation I live in the North—Minnesota to be more specific. Born and raised in Iowa, and have lived in modest ports of call such as Atlanta, New York City, Lacoste (in South France), and now Duluth, MN. I am a maker with a lotta love for the letterforms.
Professional Stats: Communications designer, letterer, type designer, and illustrator with over twenty-plus years experience. I focus on helping clients tell their stories to their customers. Sometimes those stories are modest, sometimes they are complex. Clients included but not limited to: Arthur Andersen, Captain D’s, Coca-Cola, DuPont, Iowa Public Television, Meredith Corporation, and Pioneer. I currently work as a Design Director for Bridge Creative, as well as orchestrating my own sole-proprietorship helping not-for-profit organizations throughout the country.
Teaching Stats: “You seem to do this work well, why don’t you teach what you do?” A comment turned reality. I currently teach at the University of Minnesota Duluth. My teaching focuses upon real-world experience and bringing that experience to the classroom to engage students in practical processes. I believe that students are able to explore new information and experiences when given the support and autonomy to do so, thus they can begin to take ownership of their understandings. With this ownership comes empowerment. And that was as many big words as I could possibly think to describe it succinctly.
I am lucky to do all of the above, and I believe in having a sense of humor with this type of work as it can get complex quickly. If you like what you see don’t hesitate to contact me for a beverage. I’ll be there with bells on.
